from @thecookingfeed – Desserts Bengali Style which you have to try at least once in your lifetime. Delicious, sweet, sticky, fragrant and extremely tasty. In my opinion this is one of my all time favourite desserts ever made.
??Sticky rice.
??Fresh mango.
??fresh grated coconut marrabba made with sugar.
??Condensed milk (not the tinned variety but full fat milk heated so it’s reduced to a quarter of the original amount).
??Double cream.
??Kumra Marabba (winter melon cooked in a sugar syrup with cinnamon, bayleaves, cardamom pods and star anise). All these ingredients are mixed together and eaten after a Bangladeshi meal, a taste you can only dream of. Everything is easy to make except the winter melon in syrup which is very time consuming and labour intensive but worth the effort, hence why this used to be made only at special occasions like weddings.
Sadly slowly this dish is being forgotten by a lot of people due to the scarcity and high price of the winter melon and the time and effort it takes to prepare and make the dish. It’s a dish that is always passed down generations my dear mum taught me to make this royal dish and her mum before that. My mother in law is another expert at this and am very grateful to both my mothers for always treating us to this delicious dish at least a couple of times a year if not more. .
